The Ellis Jr. High girls basketball team traveled to Phillipsburg of what ended up an extended JV game going into four overtimes. The varsity contest, however, was not a close game at all. The Panthers held Ellis scoreless in the first quarter, jumping out into a big lead 16 to 0. The Railers continue to struggle with scoring, however the Panthers were contained to more reasonable scoring for the remainder of the game. Panthers easily won the game 41 to 14.

Leading scorer for Ellis was Taylor Kohl with six points followed by Jersee Fabrizius with four. Jocelyn Eck and Rylan Aschenbrenner each had two points. Leading rebounder for Ellis was Kohl with four. Eck, Fabrizius, Libby Schiel and Evelyn Merriman each had three.

In the JV game, the first tie was at 14 points each. Each overtime continued to stay at 14 until Phillipsburg finally hit a shot ending the contest 16 to 14.

Leading scorer for Ellis was Piper McClung with 9 points. Aschenbrenner and Lyla Richards each had two points. MacKinley Rhoden had one points. Leading rebounder for Ellis was McClung with 10 boards followed by Dora Bencze with nine. Maggie Fitzgerald and Richards each had three rebounds followed by Rhoden, Adalyn Hamel and Schiel each with two. Aschenbrenner and Merriman each had one board.


The Ellis Jr. High Junior Varsity girls basketball played in the first round of the MCEL Tournament against Trego on Dec. 1st. Trego will go on in the tournament, beating Ellis 33 to 12.

Libby Schiel led the scoring for Ellis with four points. Taylor Kohl, Jersee Fabrizius, Jocelyn Eck and Rylan Aschenbrenner each had two points.

Leading rebounder for Ellis was Kohl with 10 boards. Eck, Fabrizius and Schiel each had two. Merriman and Aschenbrenner each had one rebound.

Next game for EJH girls will be against TMP at home on Dec. 6th.
