Junior high wrestling concludes season at MCEL Tournament
The junior high wrestlers traveled to WaKeeney on Thursday February 20th to take part in the always tough league tournament. The team wrestled well at the event and 10 out of the 17 wrestlers brought home a medal. Carter Jimenez and Jack Reed both lose one-point matches and have to settle for second place. Kooper Hankins and Lux Bell were also able to make the finals, but both were defeated and brought home the silver. Korbyn Kroeger, Maggie Downing, and Charly Amrein placed third at their weight classes. Myles Vine, Brody Armbrister, and Keliah Heit wrestled well and all placed fourth. The boys team placed 6th out of the 11 league schools, and the girls team placed 8th. Overall, we had a very good season and the wrestlers learned a lot. Hopefully they will continue to wrestle some this off-season and see more success next year. This year I was assisted by Jake Kirchhoff, Robbie Bennett, and Zeke Haag. They all did a great job working with the athletes and helping them get better every week.
