The school bond includes replacements of all the exterior doors at the Jr/Sr High School. All of the exterior doors are original to the building which was built 45 years ago. They have reached/exceeded the end of their service life and need to be replaced with new doors, new door hardware and insulated glazing to provide quality exterior opening and closing for the next 20-30 years.
The school bond includes an HVAC replacement for the entire elementary school. The existing boiler has surpassed its life expectancy of 25 years along with the pipes and coils dating 60-70 years old. The system could fail at any given time. This new HVAC replacement will also address the frustrations and struggles students have with cooling the classrooms with window air conditioners.
It is tolerable to walk through classrooms or remain for short periods of time in the classroom, however, students and teachers are in these rooms seven hours each day, day after day. You will view in this video high noise levels, uneven cooling and poor communication causing frustration in the students. Communication between students and teachers was especially difficult when students were required to wear masks due to COVID. This is experienced each school year on the average of four out of the nine months.
Renovation the the Science Rooms would include demolition of all existing casework, flooring, ceiling, lights, etc. to allow for a complete renovation of the spaces. The renovation will include all new casework, flooring, ceiling, lights, and reconfiguration/replacement of the existing electrical systems, data systems, plumbing systems and gas services to all appropriate locations, per the new design.
